Halette Door Handles September 28th, 2017 - 03:29:37
The Kitchen is the one room in the house that presents the door handle manufacturer and supplier with a range of problems peculiar to that room and which are worth considering. The door handles require a number of design factors to be considered dependent on their position and usage. The first problem with a kitchen is that because it deals with food it is susceptible to the transmission of germs throughout the kitchen. Food is invariably transported and prepared by hand and this is then transmitted to other surfaces when cupboards are opened and closed.
While the Storm door handle could be described as an attempt to mix and match the two previous options it really stands out on its own. The very long back plate is 185mm over 50mm more than the length of the lever handle (which is 127mm). The handle itself is slightly curved although not enough to be very noticeable and is a single length of handle rather like the Monet. It features the different colour metal on the palm pad as exhibited by the Nimbus which makes it an ideal match for a more modern house. The Storm door handle is also available with a lockable back plate which again matches a mortice lock in the same style.
We have also seen door handles made from many different materials although most people think of some kind of metal. However handles have also been made from ceramic wood glass plastic etc. One of the oldest materials that are still among the more popular options is brass. For one thing brass looks gorgeous but it is also rust resistant. Todays brass door handle is somewhat different from those made in earlier times due to finishes. For instance for a more modern appearance many people choose brushed or satin brass.
Think about the overall theme to your home and the individual room and what will look good with the style of the door. A good tip when shopping for your door handles is to take a piece of wood the same type and colour as the door in question and put it against all the door handles to see if it goes just as you would in choosing a set of curtains against the paint on the walls you need to see if it will go. And dont be afraid to mix and match it is not law that you have to have the same door handles throughout your home if one of your rooms has a different feel to it go with the door handle that fits that they dont all have to be the same!
