Alexandrin Door Handles September 04th, 2018 - 03:02:40
While different types of door handles are designed with unique components the average handle has basic components. For instance in addition to the knob top which is the large knob that you would actually grab hold of to turn handles are made with a spindle shank and knob rose. The knob rose is a round washer or plate used to form a socket. This piece is adapted so it can be attached to the actual door. Then there is that spindle which is the thin piece to which the handle attaches. The shank is the stem that projects from the door handle. Within the shank is a hole in which the spindle would be placed. For functionality the door handle would be attached so the metal shaft can turn the latch to open the door.
Treat door handles as an accessory to your door. This should help in choosing the right style and colour for your home. So if it is an accessory to your doors you will need to look at your doors and see what kind of style they are for example are they pine wood and simple in design or are they white and very traditional and intricately styled? If you have a very busy door dont go for a busy door handle choose a style that is in keeping with the doors mood but calm it down a little on the door handle otherwise itll look too much in the room. If you have a plain door you can go all out and with a jazzy and fancy door handle.
When decorating your house no matter what room it may be you always think of the major aspects such as what colour paint plain paper or patterned colour and style of carpet what furniture to have and so on and so on. The little features usually get forgotten about until the end or entirely missed and it is these little finishing touches that turn a well decorated room into an adorable living space.
Whilst you may have spent hours helping your grandparents polish the fireside companion set when it comes to your door handles the best way to keep your polished brass door furniture looking shiny is with plain and simple warm soapy water and a soft cloth. The polished brass ranges we supply have all been treated with a special lacquer and the use of metal polishes or other abrasive cleaners will damage this and cause it to wear away far quicker than it would under normal use. Eventually after a good few years of use this lacquer may well breakdown at which point you should remove the door handle or pull and treat it with an acetone thinner applied with a soft brush. Dry well with a soft cloth and then polish up with a metal polish. Regular polishing thereafter will keep them looking great.
